EXCLUSIVE: Burkina Faso Land Grabbing Report ‘Deliberately Withheld’ to Protect Politicians, Anti-Corruption Group Says

Parliamentary report on links between housing crisis and property development practices in Burkina Faso was “deliberately withheld” to protect members of the former ruling party. Municipal councils doled out far more land to real estate companies than they were legally permitted to, according to the report. Report was produced by a parliamentary commission of inquiry established in 2020 under the People’s Movement for Progress (MPP), the ruling party at the time. It was meant to be made public before national elections at the end of that year, but was never released.
